Terms of use
Last updated: 15 October 2026 · Effective: 15 October 2026
Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply when you use the Vocal Companion app. You accept them when you tap "Continue" on the welcome screen, where they're linked. You can read them any time in Settings. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps (the Licensed Application End User License Agreement) also applies. If anything here conflicts with it, Apple's agreement wins for App Store copies.
Who can use it
Vocal Companion is made for adults. If you're under 18, use it only with permission from a parent or guardian.
Not medical advice
Vocal Companion helps you practise voice exercises and keep track of how your voice feels. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it does not replace care from a doctor or a speech-language pathologist.
The exercises are general. They aren't tailored to you, and the app doesn't check your voice or tell you whether you have a condition. Muscle tension dysphonia and other voice problems need to be diagnosed by a doctor who has examined your voice box.
- Have your voice checked by a doctor before starting, especially if you've been hoarse for more than 4 weeks.
- Check with your doctor or therapist before making decisions about your health.
- Stop any exercise that causes pain, strain, dizziness or growing hoarseness.
- If you have difficulty breathing, get emergency help.
Your licence
We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under the rules of the store you got it from. Please don't copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app.
Your content
Your notes, recordings and practice history are yours. They stay on your device and we don't receive them. You're responsible for keeping backups if you want them; the app includes a backup option.
Purchases
The app starts with a 14-day free trial of everything, with nothing to sign up for and no payment details. After it, the app needs Lifetime Pro. Everything you made stays on your phone, and Settings stays open so you can export your data (CSV), back it up or restore it at any time.
Lifetime Pro is a one-time purchase sold through the App Store or Google Play. During the trial it's offered at a lower trial price. Payment, refunds and family sharing follow the store's rules. To ask for a refund, contact Apple or Google; a refunded purchase no longer unlocks Lifetime Pro. You can restore it from Settings > Lifetime Pro.
The app as it is
We work hard to make the app accurate and reliable, but we can't promise it will always be error-free or available.
TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE PROVIDE THE APP "AS IS" AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE AREN'T LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSSES, AND OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP.
This doesn't limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law where you live doesn't let us limit. It also doesn't take away your rights under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Changes
We may update the app and these terms. If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app before they take effect. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using the app.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. If you live in the United States, nothing in these terms takes away the protection of the laws of your state, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.
